why celebrated International Day of Girls and women in science

International Day of Girls and Women in Science is celebrated each year on February 11th to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. This day serves as a reminder that women and girls play a critical role in science and technology communities and should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers. It is also an opportunity to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. By celebrating this day, we can raise awareness of the importance of having equal access to education and resources for women and girls in the sciences.

girls in technological know-how are real dealers of alternatethey may be already assisting nations to boost the fulfillment of all SDGs. Take the instance of Prof Esi Awuah, a fellow of the African Academy of Sciences and one of the most effective 3 girl fellows from Ghana. A winner of many awards, Prof Awrah’s innovative studies projects in engineering and science have helped to enhance the environment, water, and sanitation in the USA. Quaky Isabella Akyiah, a leading Bioscientist, and Mary Chinery-Hesse are the opposite fellows of the African Academy of Sciences from Ghana having blazed the trail and made a giant effect in their respective fields.

instructing ladies in STEM permits them to acquire their ability and play a powerful function in addressing improvement-demanding demanding situations. At 20 years of age, Janet Kakeis is on the manner to achieving her dream of becoming a top-notch engineer’ (UNDP story). She is currently a running technician running at Ghana’s first mini-hydropower plant in Tassaduq. Having extra ‘Janets’ requires starting youngerconcentrating on girls, and investing more in ladies-led research.
By beginning youngerwe will inspire, equip, and mentor girls thru tasks together with the miss Geek Africa/ miss Geek Ghana to inspire girls to take in STEM courses and careers. running with the Ministry of Communications, the miss Geek Ghana opposition presents younger (13-21 years) lady software app developers with enterprise education and monetary guidance to increase their socially innovative tasks, addressing numerous challenges in Ghanaian society.

UNDP is dedicated to helping the participation of girls as innovators and active members of sustainable development. The Global Day of Women and ladies in science celebrated yearly on February eleventh is a unique opportunity to rally our efforts, collectivelywe can narrow the gender hole in this discipline which is relevant in reaching the SDGs.

Is it beneficial to involve more women and girls in science?

There is a danger of creating a narrow view of a subject whenever a single group dominates a field of study, whether it is an age group, a cultural group, or a gender. It is beneficial to include more women in areas that are dominated by men to introduce fresh perspectives, new talents, and new ideas. Some countries can also benefit from it in terms of improving the status of women on the social and financial front.                                                                                                                                                                                      Why do most girls not continue their carer in STEM subjects?                                                                                                                This is a very complicated answer because many reasons of behind this. some of them are described here in a few words like making the wrong choice of school, lack of facilities like there is no transport system available, expensive education system A new beginning in the world of work.

In addition, being one of a small minority on a university course or in a job may discourage girls from pursuing careers in scientific research or engineering. There is a common fear that if you are in a minority, you will suffer discrimination and you will need to work much harder to succeed.                                                                                                                         STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. women should take part in these subjects and make their career because she is an equal part of our society as well as men. so we should give equal opportunity to them to continue their career in stem subjects. There are many benefits of this like the country will make progress and inclusion in developing countries and it is very beneficial for our next upcoming generations.
